Timber & Tones House
Leichhardt NSW

The concept for this home celebrates raw materials and an intentionally imperfect approach to the space, integrating industrial finishes such as polished concrete with exposed aggregate, raw concrete, brick, natural stone, and warm timber to add depth and authenticity. Above all, the design reflects the clients’ personalities—rich with warmth, curiosity, and creativity—and their deep love of books and music. This project honours the home's heritage charm while embracing a playful, contemporary sensibility. A rich, warm neutral facade with classic tessellated tiles is contrasted with the more contemporary extension, revealing hidden moments of wonder throughout the home.

The extension is designed with family living in mind—centred around a bold, texture-rich kitchen that blends intrigue with functionality. Streamlined joinery will carry the kitchen’s colour palette through to the laundry and living spaces, to maintaining visual cohesion. In the dining area, a casual approach encourages both entertaining and relaxed meals where the large glazed doors slide back to reveal an exceptional indoor outdoor connection. The master bedroom is a calm, inviting retreat, with clever joinery maximising both storage and flow. Throughout the home, the design aims to feel playful, interesting, and not too perfect—a space that feels genuinely lived in, expressive, and welcoming. The ensuite continues this tactile narrative, with soft blue tiles, terrazzo flooring, and crisp white basins combining for a clean yet richly textured finish.
